Sightings of the Ozark howler have been happening since the 1800's. He's described as looking like a large bear, with black hair and sharp horns, and he's mainly seen in the Ozarks, from Missouri to northern Arkansas. Some say that his high pitched screams sound like a woman in distress, but others think his cries sound more like a wolf. There have never been any reports of anyone being hurt by the howler, but if you ever come across one, your best bet would be to back away and avoid it.
