Black Beast of Snake Mountain... It is said that this terrifying beast roams the slopes of snake mountain. Situated in the heart of Addison County, VT, this 1,200 ft mountain sits all alone in the middle of farmland and is part of a wildlife management area.
Many people believe the beast dates as far back as when the Abenaki, a Native American tribe that lived in the area. They worshipped a powerful nature spirit known as the Wendigo, a malevolent being that turns humans into monsters. They believe the Wendigo created the beast and gave it supernatural powers, and a hunger for human flesh.
The beast is described as a massive dark furred creature with sharp teeth and claws and red glowing eyes. It is said to roam the slopes and preys upon unsuspecting campers and hikers.
It was also known to hide behind barns and houses back in the 1930s and scare off farmers. Sometimes it would hide in trees and scare little kids that were working on the farms. Any attempt to shoot it would result in failure. When anyone tired, the beast would simply disappear.
